COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The Jazariya is a celebrated introductory poem to the science of Tajwid authored by Imam Muhammad Ibn Al-Jazari Ash-Shafi’i (d. 833 AH). This course is taught by Hafiz Humza Ali, who received training and Ijazah in the Jazariya from world-renowned teacher and scholar Shaykh Moaaz Safwat. Students will cover the entire Jazariya with the instructor's English commentary in twenty one-hour sessions. The course is intended for serious students of the Quran, those who have memorized it, or those who are teaching it.

This introductory Arabic grammar course is designed to provide tangible cognitive and communicative grounding to students who are new to the Arabic language as well as to those who may have had some prior technical exposure. Using the 13th century and the most widely celebrated text in traditional Arabic grammar, Matn al-Ajrumiya by Imam Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ajurum as-Sanhaji, students will be thoroughly engaged by the instructor using multiple methods to establish a foundation for speech and comprehension.

- recognize the agents of inflection and understand and how they influence words;

- grammatically analyze simple sentences and;
- build vocabulary through examples from the Quran.
