What makes the Academy
a Premier Institution?
1. The Dean
Shaykh Dr. Moaaz Safwat Mahmoud Ahmed Salem, a world-renowned scholar in Quran Studies, serves as the Dean of Dar al-Burhan Academy, where his leadership ensures the faculty upholds the highest standards in Quranic education and character development. In addition to his scholarly expertise, Shaykh Dr. Moaaz plays a key role in the robust institutional management of the academy, overseeing curriculum development, faculty training, and administrative operations to maintain excellence in all aspects of the academy’s mission.
2. The Instructors & Isnad
Our licensed male and female Quran instructors, with diverse chains of transmission in the canonical qirāʾāt, carefully guide students in Quranic recitation and memorization, ensuring accuracy and thorough understanding the rules of Tajweed. Exceptional students, who show dedication and skill, are offered the rare opportunity to pursue the esteemed ijāza (prophetic teaching license) in Quran recitation, helping to preserve and carry forward the sacred tradition of transmission.
3. The Guidance Counsellors
The male and female guidance counselors are seasoned mentors with a unique talent for connecting with younger students, guiding them through the often challenging journey of Quran memorization. This is achieved through regular, individualized meetings and counseling sessions, offering personalized support and encouragement.
4. The Standard of Excellence
At Dar al-Burhan Academy, students must first master Arabic pronunciation and achieve fluency in Quranic reading before progressing to memorization, establishing a strong foundation for their journey. Conditionally accepted students can attend preparatory sessions to refine their skills. The academy emphasizes personalized, methodical learning, ensuring students recite accurately before moving forward. Prioritizing quality over quantity, Dar al-Burhan nurtures excellence and mastery at every stage of the memorization process.
5. The System
Dar al-Burhan's system is designed to achieve memorization targets without compromising quality.
The system has three distinct phases:
Phase 1 - comprising Grades 1 & 2
Phase 2 - comprising Grades 3 & 4
Phase 3 - comprising Grades 5, 6 & 7
Students are expected to progressively improve their recitation at each phase, through theoretical understanding and practical implementation of prononciation and tajweed rules, as they journey in their pursuit of becoming a Hafiz.
Progress through the grades and subsequently to the next phase is achieved by passing formal evaluations at distinct milestones which assess both tajweed and hifz components.
