COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This introductory Arabic grammar course is designed to provide tangible cognitive and communicative grounding to students who are new to the Arabic language as well as to those who may have had some prior technical exposure. Using the 13th century and the most widely celebrated text in traditional Arabic grammar, Matn al-Ajrumiyyah by Imam Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ajurum as-Sanhaji, students will be thoroughly engaged by the instructor using multiple methods to establish a foundation for speech and comprehension.

- recognize the parts of speech and basic sentence structure forms in the Quran;
- recognize the agents of inflection and understand and how they influence words;
- correctly assemble words and phrases into complete sentences;
- apply grammatical rules and correct inflection when reading;
- correctly conjugate verbs;
- grammatically analyze simple sentences and;
- build vocabulary through examples from the Quran.
